"Be My Valentine" Meeting 070213

This is one of the best meeting I have attended at MII TMC and am proud to have a Team of dedicated members and officers working together to make each meeting better than the last. Congratulation to our VPE Sherine Lim for taking on the role of Acting President, Ho our VPPR as our TME, Joyce as our ASAA and our Treasurer, Levine as our Invocation Presenter and buying the Pick Candles, Leong the backroom guy who produce the Pink Program and whatever you see in the room and many more.

We had 23 people present and they are
Members: 1Sherine, 2Kish, 3Ho, 4Joyce, 5Mike, 6Anna, 7Larry, 8Thilo, 9Tillman, 10Monsiuer, 11Betty, 12Levine, 13Adam, 14Leong and 15Mohamad
Visiting TM: 15Sam, 16Ernest, 17Simon
Guests: Four and I only remembered on and dare not mention her name only. If anyone could let me have their names I would appreciate it and make the change.
Inductee: Leong Yip Sau.

Meeting starts with VPE Sherine taking the floor and asking everyone to introduce themselves and also to share with the rest what our plans are for Valentine Day.

Next came Levine with her Invoccation telling us how the poor Phillipinoes having to leave their family and country, sell their belongs to seek fortune in other strange countries.

Yours truly as Table topics master gave 7 angpows with small gifts in each but strangely there is not enough as there are more volunteers than speakers for the night. Sorry AG Mike Teng, next Valentine, I shall ensure to reserve a question for you to participate.

Adam gave his usual frank and honest evaluation of the speakers whom we all agree were great.

Special for the night is the Induction of Leong Yip Sau. He must be feeling privilege to have been inducted in the midst of so many people. Sherine did her homework and everything goes well. Thank you Sherine for ensuring that such task can be done perfectly.

Dinner was a little special we had some nugget hearts to eat and as usual our food is always fantastic. Thanks to Leong and Sherine for insisting on quality.

After the dinner we had four Good speeches starting with Leong giving us "Feng Shui - Tools of the Trade" for his #8 Project. All of us didn't know that Feng shui has gone hitec now.

Following Leong we got Kish who spoke to us of "If tomorrow never comes". Here she related to us about her first love, her father and how she regrets for one action that gave an impact on her today. She reminded us to do it now and not wait as tomorrow may never come.

Thilo took the floor subsequently and he has to speak off the cuff. Larry chose a topic about Television and rattle on like a pro. I think if we give him more time he can still continue.

We had a guest speaker (a TM member from another club) taking the next speaking slot and talk to us about Gong Xi Fa Cai. He informed us about the Chinese Zodiac, Chinese Custom and Chinese Calender. We now learned that Chinese New Year should be on 4th Feb if they follow the Solar Calender.

Our GE Sam from another club then took control and called on the Evaluators and they were in order of speaking, Tillman, Mike, Larry and Anna. Then he called on the Grammarian, Time Keeper and Ah Counter for their report before he made his final evaluation.

In closing I must say this is one of our best meeting and I hope the next one on 27 Feb "Gong Xi Fa Cai" will be better. See you there in RED.

Dear Mohamad & All,

Before I begin, I must wish you all Gong Xi Fa Cai and a Happy Chinese New Year, to all Chinese and non-Chinese members ! After all, in Malaysia, all races share the holidays and celebrate festive seasons together, right ? All for one and one for all !!!

Mohamad, again, thank you so much for your long post mortem / meeting report to update those members who missed the Valentine's Day meeting on 13th February 2007 and to refresh those who have attended the meeting as well with your detailed write up and all the compliments plus acknowledgement to all our dedicated members.

As I said, without a team, without teamwork, the meeting will not be a successful one. Thanks to all the members who helped to bring the meeting quality to another higher level ! Well done and great job !

As for the four guests who attended the meeting, Mohamad, here's the names for your information, they are : Alice - Levine's guest, Christina - Anna's guest, Grace - my guest and a Doctor - Anna's guest who had signed up as member immediately right after the meeting. ( Sorry for not being able to catch her name ). Maybe Kish who has her membership form and update us on this information or maybe Anna could let us know.

Lastly, wish you all the best in the year of Boar and let's work hand in hand to push all our future meetings to another higher peak !

Gong He Fa Cai and see you on 27th February 2007 for the " Ye Sang " dinner in Red dresscode with ' Gong Xi Fa Cai ' theme at MII Toastmasters Club !

With best wishes,
Sherine

Dear MII-TMC members,

GONG XI FA CAI !! The Chinese Lunar New Year is a celebration of spring as we leave behind the cold, dark winter. Spring brings forth new leaves and the fresh bloom of flowers. Here in MII-TMC , we are also celebrating a new spring thanks to the undeniable efforts of both our founders - DTM En.Mohamad Abdullah and his perfect half - Diana, who have placed the club's interest over and above everything else.
Yes, we have had one good meeting after another beginning with our memorable 15th anniversary celebration. The last meeting - "Valentine day meeting" was also among the best that was organised by the club and credit for this lovely meeting must go to CTM Sherine Lim who has shouldered the heavy responsibility of being both
the VPE and Acting President for the entire year.
MII-TMC members have voted wisely and correctly in installing her as the next President of our club and I am confident our great meetings will continue.
We know that we are on the right track as all speech slots have been regularly filled up since the beginning of the year. The TME for the rest of the term has also been scheduled and meetings are progressing like clockwork.
Most of all, we have managed to sign up 2 new members on the spot in 2 consecutive months !!
( TM Leong Yip Sau and Dr.Gan )and this speaks volumes of the quality of our meetings. Obviously, our meetings must have been special for guests to sign up on the spot and I urge all members to continue to bring their guests to our club so that they can experience the magic of Toastmasters and also "Better Fellowship".
Dear MII-TMC members, we do not just dream of memorable meetings. Memorable meetings are dreams that are MADE to come true. As such , I would like to ask all MII-members to come forth, whether you are EXCO , non-EXCO or even ex-EXCO to assist the current EXCO in bringing home fond memories of every meeting. To continue to place this heavy burden on both the shoulders of our charming VPE -Sherine Lim would be a crime.
Dear MII-TMC members, this is not my club and neither is it the EXCO's club. This is OUR club so do volunteer to fill up all the remaining roles ( other than the 4 speeches )for the next meeting which is just around the corner and I will assure you of a meeting to remember.
As the TME for the next meeting on the 27/2, the chosen theme for the meeting is "RED" in line with our CNY celebrations, so do come dressed in RED !! There will also be a special "yee sang" session to usher in a year of success and prosperity for all members.
Once again , let me welcome all MII-TMC members this CNY with a wish for good health , good wealth and good speeches and I look forward to entertaining all of you on the 27th Feb.

Warm regards,

SAA - Leong Kok Wah.

P.S. It is customary for our President to give away RED packets
during the first meeting of CNY. Lets' turn up in full force to welcome the CNY of the fire boar.
