Club Officers Training II

Shirene Lim as VPE led the team of Executive Committee members to the 2nd COTs this year. With her is our Vice President Public Relations Ho, Treasurer Joyce and SAA Leong. Also present were Janice Ooi, Mike Teng (our Area Governor) and Mohamad Abdullah.

Altogether the magnificient 7 made it but we could not get any award as the Exco was not fully represented.

Interesting Sessions this year with Film Show, Keynote Addres by IPDG Low Yat Seow, Presentations from the various Areas, Objective Test (considered a new idea) and the Panel Discussion.

Apparently, there are plenty to learn and so little time to do it.

A New Club Banner

After 15 years we have a new banner which says, "For better Fellowship" Malaysian Insurance Institute Toastmasters Club, Kuala Lumpur, Chartered on 19 November 1991, Club #8495 District 51.

Thanks to the designer Ho and the Exco for their initiatives and hardwork.

We also have a small bannerette just pinned outside the door of our meeting room which I thought was great to tell visitors exactly where to find us.

Do visit us at the Malaysian Insurance Institute Building (Institut Bank-Bank) Jalan Semantan, Damansara Heights, Kuala Lumpur on every 2nd and 4th Tuesdays on the 2nd Floor of the building from 7.00 pm to 9.00 pm.

Message from District 51 Governor

Dear Toastmaster Sherine Lim,

> Thank you for the invitation and congratulations to you and the members of MII Toastmasters on the occasion of your 15th anniversary celebrations. The club is where the magic begins and it's because of the commitment and dedication of each and everyone of you, MII TMC has successful groomed many of it's members to become better speakers and leaders.
I am indeed grateful to your contribution to our members and as well as to the District.

Sherine, please accept my sincere apologies as I will not be able to attend tomorrow. However I have just spoken to our Lt. Governor Marketing, DTM Joseph Gomez and he has kindly agreed
to represent the District.

Once again, thank you and wishing you a memorable 15th year anniversary celebration.

Warm regards
Siva

Message from former member Leanne Yeoh from UK

'Dear Fellow Toastmaster & Friends,

Happy 15th Anniversary, I don't know what to say but I got this from an
email from a friend and though of just sharing it with you all....

>This is so true ... many times we got carried away and forget our
>primary purpose. (may be this can omit)
>
>A message to share... (& this too to omit)
>
>A group of alumni, highly established in their careers, got together to
>visit their old university Professor.
>
>Conversation soon turned into complaints about stress in work and life.
>Offering his guests coffee, the Prof went to the kitchen and returned
>with a large pot of coffee and an assortment of cups: porcelain,
>plastic, glass, some plain-looking and some expensive and exquisite,
>telling them to help themselves to hot coffee.
>
>When all the students had a cup of coffee in hand, the lecturer said
>"If you noticed, all the nice-looking, expensive cups were taken up,
>leaving behind the plain and cheap ones. While it is but normal for you
>to want only the best for yourselves, that is the source of your
>problems and stress. What all of you really wanted was coffee, not the
>cup, but you consciously went for the better cups and are eyeing each
>other's cups."
>
>"Now, if Life is coffee, then the jobs, money and position in society
>are the cups. They are just tools to hold and contain life, but the
>quality of Life doesn't change. Sometimes, by concentrating only on the
>cup, we fail to enjoy the coffee in it."
>
>So friend, don't let the cups drive you... enjoy the coffee instead.
>
and have a fabulous evening.. and be present!!! cheers'
p.s. you edit for me lah...
Love, Ean

Dear Mohamad - The Founder and all my beloved Toastmasters from MII Club,

Greetings from sunny Bukit Bintang area !
Before I start my writing, I would like to thank a few people for making last night event a successful one :
-
Mohamad - Without your coaching, guidance and your generous in sponsoring the Club all the lucky draw gifts, we won't have such amazing & fruitful programme last night

Leong - Without your full 100% support and commitment on the coordination, liaison & presentation + gift sponsored, the event will not be a successful one

Ho - Without your excellent idea on the appreciation gifts and programme, all the Past Presidents might not be gone home with a big smile on their faces

Joyce - Without your prompt and superb co-operation contributed to us prior to the event and during the event, we won't be able to have a smooth flow of programme. And, thanks for bringing Cheah to the Club

Levine - Without your on-site assistance on the gifts tagging and distribution, the event could not be ended smoothly

Thiloh - Without sacrifying your working time and committed yourself for the Invocation Session last night, all of us would not be able to have an inspired spirit to continue the meeting

Mike Teng - The soul of the meeting. Without your humourous and attractive character, the meeting could not proceed in such a lively and happy atmosphere

Larry - Thanks for squeezing your time to attend the celebration last night and thanks for bringing Pauline to join us. An event could not be succeed with only one person's effort. It's all about TEAM work !!! A thousand million thanks to all your support and
hardwork to make the celebration a remarkable and memorable one.

Have a nice day !
Cheers,
Sherine

15th Anniversary Celebration

We celeberated our 15th Anniversary in style and like no other. We have District Officers, IPDG Low Yat Seow, DG Rep LGM Joseph Gomez, and some invited guests, PDVG Lakhmichand M A ATMG, PDVG Ramdas Nayar DTM, PD Pro K F Pyng, PAG James Arokiasamy,TM Sham Sunder Vikyomal from Bangsar, Jade Ling, Pauline, Cheah and The Mas Family children Lena, Mahathir and Liza.

The Past Presidents present were, Jeffrey, Larry, Thilo, Philip, Mike, Masdiana, K F Pyng and Mohamad. Anna Hue is still in Switzerland and have given her apologies whilst the rest were uncontactable. The members present were Shirene, Ho, Joyce, Laverne, Leong and Monsieur. I hope I have not omitted any one.

The meeting started with the usual President's Speech, followed by Invocation by Thilo. The TME was our AG, PP Mike Teng. After the normal start Mohamad took us down Memory Lane and gave us some history lessons. He also took time to present some shots of photographs in his possession. Later he invited all the PP to say a few words.

After all the Past Presidents have given their stories Mike introduced Leong to conduct the Humour Session and instead he roasted Mohamad. All went well and we had a special dinner organised by the Exco. No one can complain about MII food. Oh yes, before we actually break for dinner we got the cake cutting ceremony with wine popping session. Again I forget to tell you that they invited Mohamad and Masdiana as the founder together with Jeff the current President to unleash our new Banner after 15 years.

After dinner Mohamad was called in to conduct another session where he invited all the guests to give us their idea as to where MII TMC should be in 5 years time. Joseph, Lucky, Ramdas, James and Masdiana were invited and each of them share their experience and gave their recommendations to have Quality Meeting, Good Mentoring, Fun and Fellowship, Sharing and Quality Self.

Finally, we had Lucky Draw session of about 15 items and Mohamad and his family took 5 already and leave the rest to the others. However, Masdiana and Mohamad redonate their prizes for the others.

The meeting ended a little late but with a high note and I am sure MII TMC can go far.
