And we were complimented by the President of D' Utama Toastmasters Club, CTM, CL Lim Lay Kun who was the General Evaluator last night on our perfect meeting schedule without any amendment on the role players.

"Be My Valentine" Meeting 070213
This is one of the best meeting I have attended at MII TMC and am proud to have a Team of dedicated members and officers working together to make each meeting better than the last. Congratulation to our VPE Sherine Lim for taking on the role of Acting President, Ho our VPPR as our TME, Joyce as our ASAA and our Treasurer, Levine as our Invocation Presenter and buying the Pick Candles, Leong the backroom guy who produce the Pink Program and whatever you see in the room and many more.
We had 23 people present and they are
Members: 1Sherine, 2Kish, 3Ho, 4Joyce, 5Mike, 6Anna, 7Larry, 8Thilo, 9Tillman, 10Monsiuer, 11Betty, 12Levine, 13Adam, 14Leong and 15Mohamad
Visiting TM: 15Sam, 16Ernest, 17Simon
Guests: Four and I only remembered on and dare not mention her name only. If anyone could let me have their names I would appreciate it and make the change.
Inductee: Leong Yip Sau.
Meeting starts with VPE Sherine taking the floor and asking everyone to introduce themselves and also to share with the rest what our plans are for Valentine Day.
Next came Levine with her Invoccation telling us how the poor Phillipinoes having to leave their family and country, sell their belongs to seek fortune in other strange countries.
Yours truly as Table topics master gave 7 angpows with small gifts in each but strangely there is not enough as there are more volunteers than speakers for the night. Sorry AG Mike Teng, next Valentine, I shall ensure to reserve a question for you to participate.
Adam gave his usual frank and honest evaluation of the speakers whom we all agree were great.
Special for the night is the Induction of Leong Yip Sau. He must be feeling privilege to have been inducted in the midst of so many people. Sherine did her homework and everything goes well. Thank you Sherine for ensuring that such task can be done perfectly.
Dinner was a little special we had some nugget hearts to eat and as usual our food is always fantastic. Thanks to Leong and Sherine for insisting on quality.
After the dinner we had four Good speeches starting with Leong giving us "Feng Shui - Tools of the Trade" for his #8 Project. All of us didn't know that Feng shui has gone hitec now.
Following Leong we got Kish who spoke to us of "If tomorrow never comes". Here she related to us about her first love, her father and how she regrets for one action that gave an impact on her today. She reminded us to do it now and not wait as tomorrow may never come.
Thilo took the floor subsequently and he has to speak off the cuff. Larry chose a topic about Television and rattle on like a pro. I think if we give him more time he can still continue.
We had a guest speaker (a TM member from another club) taking the next speaking slot and talk to us about Gong Xi Fa Cai. He informed us about the Chinese Zodiac, Chinese Custom and Chinese Calender. We now learned that Chinese New Year should be on 4th Feb if they follow the Solar Calender.
Our GE Sam from another club then took control and called on the Evaluators and they were in order of speaking, Tillman, Mike, Larry and Anna. Then he called on the Grammarian, Time Keeper and Ah Counter for their report before he made his final evaluation.
In closing I must say this is one of our best meeting and I hope the next one on 27 Feb "Gong Xi Fa Cai" will be better. See you there in RED.

International & Table Topics Speech Contests
Another eventful day for MII TM club members. We successfully conducted the two Contests eventhough our President who is supposed to be our Organising Chairman has to be called to Penang at short notice. As usual the enterprising and reliable VPE took the Chair and ably handed the two Contests smoothly.
We started with the Table Topics Contest with Tillman Shroeder as our Contest Chair. He ably handled the Contest well (with the AG Mike Teng mentoring); so if there is anything wrong the finger goes to Mike. The topic was "The flood in Johore is this the revenge of mother nature?" There were five brave Contestants,
1. Levine Lee
2. Monsieur Tilaka(sekaran)
3. Mohamad Abdullah
4. Leong Kok Wah
5. Philip Wong
The Winners were: Mohamad, Leong and Monsieur
As for the International Speech contest Masdiana OOi was given the honour to host it as Contest Chair. An experienced Contestant herself she handled it with ease and humour. The following kept their promise to participate:
1. Monsieur Tilaka - "Terror at 37,000 feet"
2. Mohamad Abdullah - "F.O.C.- U.S."
3. Joyce Chung - "Learn to forgive"
4. Leong Kok Wah - "Independence Day"
The winners were: Mohamad and Joyce
The Club would also like to thank all the Role Players and Judges who took their time to help out and they are:
1. Chief Judge: Pearly Yap (and her team of Anonymous Judges)
2. Area Governor: Mike Teng for giving away the prizes
3. SAA: Janice Ooi and Meyya (from DKC TM Club)
4. Ballot Counter: Richard and Betty Toh
5. Time Keepers: Mike and Leong (our latest addition)
6. Film Director: Ho who took the VDO
7. Guests: Li Lien (DKC) Shirley, Tania and * (from HSBC Bank), Charlie Foong, and a lady from Bank Negara and member of the Money Mastery, and a couple more that I cannot remember.
8. The OC: VPE Shirene Lim for sacrificing her entry to the Table Topics Contest just to take on the role.
Attendance Score: 54%

Workshop Facilitators & Participants

Workshop Participants
4in1 Workshop
We were very ambitious putting four Effective workshops into one. The Effective Role Playing (ERP), the Effective Evaluation (EE), the Effective Club Officers Workshop (ECOT) and the Effective Trainers Workshop (ET).
The following members attended the workshop held at AAO Pana Insurance Brokers Board Room in Dataran Prima on 1st Day of the Muslim New Year of 1428, a Saturday 20 Jan 2007 from 9 am till 5.45 pm.
President Jeffrey (IPP),
VPE Shirene Lim (Pres),
VPPR Ho (VPPR),
Secretary T Raja,
Treasurer Joyce Chung (VPM),
SAA Leong (VPE),
PP AG Mike Teng.
Levine Lee (SAA).
Masdiana Ooi,
PDVG Ramdas Nayar and
Mohamad Abdullah.
ERP Workshop
The session starts promptly and almost everyone was there before 9 am except for Raja who lost his way. The general feelings of those present were that this training is more hands on where they were made to do research on the subject and make the presentation. Most of those who were given the role to present made fantastic research and did well in their presentation.
At the end of the session Masdiana, Ramdas Nayar and Mohamad gave their evaluation on the presentation and also on areas where the Role Player can be more effective.
EE Workshop
Masdiana gave her full account of the way Speech Evaluators have to perform and she maintain that "Whitewashing is not encouraged". Ramdas Nayar who did the session on General Evaluator stressed that one should not destroy people's self-esteem. In Mohamad's Evaluation he reminded all concerned that whilst they are generous and wanting to give everything to the audience they must also respect time and therefore, he recommends that Evaluators should only focus on two good points and give recommendations on only one at most two. He feels that giving too much is just like running the Speaker and destroying his self-esteem.
ECOT Workshop
The workshop went very briefly as most of the incoming officers are faily aware of their role but Joyce and Levine were happy to learn a little more. Ho also commented that members should see the big picture of what the SAA role is. He associated SAA as an Event Organiser and making things happen.
ET Workshop
Masdiana in just over 30 minutes managed to quickly brieed the participants on what a Trainer is expected to do. She touches on the difference relating to a Speaker, a Teacher, A Lecturer, A Facilitator and also a Trainer. She also touches on Games and Energiser which got Raja very excited.
Masdiana kep reminding us that she had to spend ove RM 10k to learn the subject in 10 days and it is impossible for her to share everything in one hour. Sherine felt that it does not help her as she expects more. Masdiana responded by saying that she is ready to share if given sufficient time.
Effective Leadership (EL)Workshop
When the session ends at 4.30 pm the participants seemed inclined to learn more and Mohamad shared something that he had already prepared on the three main areas of an Effective Leadership. He just touched on Attitude, Skills and Knowledge and end it with 6 Leadership Profile, Vision, Values, Recommendations, Communication, Coaching and Support.
Mohamad's three Negative Cs seemed to be well remembered by all and they are: Criticize, Condemn and Complain. Our AG Mike Teng closes the meeting with a note of appreciation to Masdiana, Ramdas Nayar and Mohamad for sharing with them.
(Guys I am now in Genting Highlands Computer Room. Masdiana is attending an official function, the children are busy enjoying themselves at the Indoor Playground and me just working on this from memory. The photos will be posted later and Participants if you wish to provide additional comments, please post it.)

Meeting #1 for Two Double O-Seven
We had a good crowd for this first meeting of the year with four guests. I was the TME of the evening and just bought a digital camera and love to play with it. So enjoy yourself with the pictures and sorry if I did not 'shoot' you last night.
Give me time, I will certainly shoot you one day. Looks like I cannot produce the pictures at this stage and will try later.
Presents yesterday were: President Jeffrey, VPE Shirene, VPM Kish, Sec Raja, Treasurer Joyce, SAA Leong, PP Masdiana, PP Anna, PP Mike, PP Thilo, IPP Larry, Adam, Levine, Richard with Guests, Jade, Aida, Carren and Leong. Have I left out anyone, yes, including Mohamad.
Anna gave a great KFC Invocation, Larry introduce us the word "Determination" and the theme was "007". Shirene led us in the Table Topics whilst Thilo did the Evaluation. 7 members spoke and the winner goes to Double O-One, Masdiana 001 (ooi).
The prepared speeches were rendered by Richard talking of "Go for the sky", Kish with "For better or for worst", Raja on his "Unforgettable Day" and Leong on "A Bad Day". The best speaker title goes to Leong Kok Wah.
The Evaluators for the speakers were, Pres Jeff, PP Thilo, PP Anna and Adam. The best evaluator vote goes to PP Anna.
We have also the Best role player for the night and the title goes to PP Masdiana whilst another lady member VPE Shirene took the Most Friendly Person title.
We also had our AGM and I will report this tomorrow. Bye for now rushing for another meeting.

Meeting #01/2007 - January 9, 2007
I have been given the task of being the Toastmaster for the Evening for our meeting on 9 Jan 2007 and before I realised the speaking roles have all been blocked. Good to know that there are so many members willing and wishing to do their speeches and the enthusiasm is really catching. If you really wish to block your slot, for the next meeting which will only be in February you have to do the booking quick.
Kish, Rajah, Mike and Leong have the limited 4 speaking slots and we have to turn down others. What the TME wishes is more members will come forward wishing to take up roles. And for this the Exco has agreed to give an Award for the best Role Player for each meeting. Even if you are a Aah Counter, you can still be voted as the Best Role Player for the evening if you do your job well.
Our Club wants to project an image as a Club 'for better fellowship'. The Exco wants everyone to know each other and build that friendship. Remember, "Friends helping friends succeed"?. Yes we want each member to bring in a friend to help them succeed too and Toastmasters International do award members who brings in 3 New Members each year. To make it better we have also another Award at each meeting and this will be for "Most Friendly Person". He or she can be a member or a guest where those present will vote and give him/her the honour. The more friends you bring in for the meeting the more votes you will get.
Meanwhile, enjoy the Christmas and New Year Holidays but remember, drink if you must, drive if you will but don't do both together.
MII Toastmasters 'for better fellowship' always.
